Unreliable
1) Eggos
I mean let's be real here. You aren't waking up any earlier than a half an hour before your 8:30AM class. You need something in your belly. Why not go with some old fashion waffles. Plop these puppies in the toaster and in a short couple minutes, you are on your way to class with an affordable and tasty bite to tie you over for the next twenty minutes. These can be found at any basic grocery store for a lovely price of $4.99 for 16 Eggos.
2) Kraft Dinner
Whether you are coming home from a night out, or if you are trying to impress your significant other coming over, Kraft Dinner will never disappoint. If it does disappoint, maybe he/she isn't for you. This cheesy and gooey macaroni dish will fuel you up and keep you in peak condition. If you are really feeling fancy, you can dabble with a little ketchup to spruce it up. This will cost you $4.50.
3) Uncle Ben's 2 Minute Rice
If this is new to you, you're welcome. Do you want rice? Do you not want to wait for water to boil? Are you not even sure how much water to pour in to the pot? Well, this little life-hack is for you. Just tear the top and throw the bag in the microwave, and in two minutes you have three servings of great rice. You can purchase these packs for $5.00 each.
4) McDonald's
We get it, sometimes you just don't want to cook. You want to chill at home, maybe throw on some Netflix while mucking a Big Mac or two, some fries, and even a McFlurry (if you want to treat yourself). It's fine, it's your cheat day, we won't tell. The price range for this can really very, especially depending on the recreational activities prior.
5) Nachos
Now if you like options, this one is for you. Customize what goes on top, or if you're really experienced, in between your nachos. Lay the ground work with whatever chips you want (we suggest round Tostitos), add some meat, plus whatever veggies you want and finally as much cheese as you can take before it becomes a little weird. We would average this out to be around a $15.00 meal, but this is definitely a party mix, so save this for when a couple friends are coming over.
6) Pasta with 'No Name' sauce
The best way to seize the week, is to meal prep. So here is your winner. Take the whole box of noodles, and toss them in a pot of boiling water. Let the hot water do it's thing, and after about 20 minutes, you should be good to go. Throw the pasta against the ceiling, if it sticks, 1) it'll look kinda cool and 2) the pasta is ready. If it doesn't stick, just put it on the burner for a bit longer. Drain the hot water, and then incorporate some sauce in to the equation. As we are a pair of deal hunters, we suggest the 'No Name' brand. It's the cheapest and your broke ass won't be able to taste the difference. And from there, you can dish out your pasta in to multiple tubber wares for the week. The price for this would $5.00 for both the pasta and sauce.
7) Cereal
It's quick, it's easy, and it tastes so good. I'm just going to get down to recommending our favourites: Vector, Froot Loops, Honey Bunches of Oats, Honey Nut Cheerios, Frosted Flakes & Captain Crunch. As for the milk, that's on you; 2%, 1%, skim, chocolate, almond (we won't judge).
8) Eggs
Easily one of the most versatile foods of all time. There are scrambled eggs, poached eggs, sunny side up, hard boiled, fried, over easy & omelettes. And for some crazy reason, they all tend to taste a little bit different. This will only take max 15 minutes, and it will give you a great amount of protein. You just can't go wrong.
9) Any meat salt and peppered
You aren't an experienced chef in the kitchen? Well here is a little secret: neither are we. If you are cooking any type of meat (chicken, pork or steak), just throw a little salt and pepper on it and you'd be surprised how much flavour it provides. Grind now, shine later ladies and gentleman. One day we'll graduate to pesto, garlic herb or Montreal steak seasoning. The price of this item will depend on the meat. Pork is always the cheapest, then chicken, and steak is the most expensive.
10) Coffee
If you are in University and don't drink coffee, I'm not sure if I'm proud of you or scared of you. Take yourself to exam szn. You are either the person getting up early to study, so you start with a coffee, or you are staying up until 4AM. Either way, we all know this is the only thing you feel you have enough time for when attempting to learn all of the material for a course where you never went to class. We suggest a nice double double from Timmies, but if you are too posh for that, Starbucks is a great option. These two items range from $1.50 to $2.50.
